Having a “forever” home has always felt far off for me. As a kid raised by a single mom, we moved around every few years, and since I left home at 18, I haven’t stayed anywhere longer than 2 years. When I thought about housing, feelings of inconsistency and instability often bubbled up and have been with me most of my life.
Life has been an endless cycle of disrupting my routine, neighborhood, and belongings every few years.
We planned to be in our last house for the long haul, but being at the mercy of landlords we felt forced to move again…
